  • The first step towards dealing with an anxious attachment style is to learn about them. There’s a great book called Attached by Amir Levine and Rachel Heller which I recommend you check out to see what attachment style you have.
  • I used to believe that my anxiety was coming from the relationship or Bigs actions. While it seemed that way at the time, I now know that 100% of the anxiety was coming from my thinking, and lots of it. Start to become aware of the thoughts you’re thinking, and what stories you’re telling yourself about the relationship. Journaling is a great place to begin to do this. Over time, you can see how repetitive and habitual your thinking is, which helps you to realise when it comes to anxiety, we’re thinking our feelings.
  • Meditate. When you’re thinking at 200 miles per hour, overthinking and obsessing about the relationship, you don’t have any clarity. You’re trapped in a thought storm unable to separate fact from fiction. Daily meditation, even 10 minutes a day, can help to calm the mind helping you to gain clarity and perspective.
